Read the effects before replacing gear

Crafted gear and profession utility can be useful while leveling. Effects such as faster smelting or cooking do not measure combat damage. Keep a utility piece when its effect serves a task, even if its combat score is low. The ranking table scores reported passive stats. It does not value complete item sets, random enchantments, triggered effects or an entire weapon combination. Read the tooltip and compare gear within the same slot and setup. Required profession, reputation, faction or quest access still matters.
